Democrats For Bailouts

The Teamsters Union hosted top 2020 Democrat presidential candidates to talk “about the key issues affecting workers like you and making sure they fight for the Teamsters vote.” The coming collapse of the multiemployer system was topic number one, asked of all the candidates who showed up in Iowa.

The answer all gave was “Butch Lewis” (ie. bailout) though all took their favorite meandering routes.

For the record, here are their responses.

Rambling Joe Bite Me was the best. Retired union slugs have priority with lip service paid to young people who largely will be footing the bill for any bailout, but what about the millions of people who don’t have a defined benefit pension? To hell with them, right? Too bad that reality can be a harsh disciplinarian. Maybe not.

Pitiful that (adults?) are depending on Bite Me and crew to keep them upright. lol

And it was the dirty companies and not the union mismanagement and union members demanding uneconomic terms for their work that produced this problem. And the rascals that put Kline Miller onto the books, how could they do such a thing? The retired union contingent might do better finding an unused street corner and putting up some impressive panhandling paraphernalia. lol

In theory, the President has no power to fund the PBGC. The President has no vote in the congress. The vice president can break ties in the Senate. The president can only veto legislation. The President might be a kind of ‘party’ leader, but one with no ability to enforce party positions. The only meaningful answer to the question is cutting the expense of foreign policy.

Andrew Yang has the best ‘bailout’ policy. He is advocating a $1000/month universal bailout for pensions, student loans, medical bills, diapers, food, rent, cable bill, whatever your problem is.

Wang has no chance in all honesty. Seems nice enough and i would actually vote for him over Sanders/Warren/Castro etc and any of the others democratic white male hating socialists.
The only 2 I would be able to stomach are Biden (ol hairy legs) and Mayor Pete. Actually, Mayor Mike I would throw in there as well.
What I like about buttegieg is he isn’t out there elevating the lgbtq community at the expense of everyone else. He, as I, am a believer in treating all with respect. I can be pro gay marriage without self flagellating myself because somebody didn’t want to bake gays a cake.

“Yang has no chance in all honesty.” They said that about William Jennings Bryan in 1900 and 1908. Silver as money, the guy was nuts, only gold is money. Sure Bryan was never elected president, but he achieved victory in death as the US and the world abandoned the gold standard. Eventually, the huge number of federal programs will be rolled up into a monthly payment for everyone.

As to gambling and other vices fear not. Most people will never see the $1000 a month. Most of it will be netted against other government income like social security and their lenders will get the rest.

Ol tough luck reads one story from the communist news network and thinks she knows it all. Pitiful! And it was identical treatment of Trump firing the Navy Secretary. Most Americans after familiarizing themselves with the story would have agreed with Trump about supporting the former Seal team member.

What did Jonathon Turley write about the Barr Report? “The analysis of the report by Justice Department inspector general Michael Horowitz greatly depends, as is often the case, on which cable news channel you watch.”

Turley is a liberal who has been consistently objective and honest, (that’s HONEST) tough luck not with a constant axe to grind.

When you hang em high after only hearing the prosecution, you are not a hanging judge. You are running a lynch mob. Treat yourself to the full story for a change, if you please. Honesty and objectivity will serve you well. You’re as bad as big Steve!

Trump is an egomaniac, no doubt. But he also knows, and has known for 35++ years, how Japan, China Germany and more recently Mexico have taken this country to the cleaners and is putting a stop to it. At this pointy in time we need that krazee ego and his style of fighting back on thee terrible trade deals. Like Ross Perot said in 1991, if NAFTA passes there will be a giant sucking sound…Of OUR jobs going to Mexico. Clinton said it would be GREAT for America. Well, Perot was 100% right, Billy Boy was 100% WRONG.

It was UNREAL! I have NEVER seen ANYTHING like it. The excitement was so wild and intense. RAISE the gas tax by 50 cents a gallon and PAY OFF the national debt. No MORE trade or budget deficits. He had a PLAN. A third party candidate not only running and polling, but he was LEADING in the biggest state in the union, CA, by a WHOPPING 45 to 32 (Clinton) to 20 (Bush). He would have cleaned house in CA and the NATION! Then he wussed out and dropped out. That was so devastating. Like my heart being ripped out. Will never see that again, ever.

          “Does the shoe fit ?”

I don’t have an opinion on it. The impeachment situation isn’t something that I’m following. I suspect that Trump won’t be convicted in the Senate and dismissed and I also think that the constant effort to overturn the election will help Trump. If the markets don’t crash during the next 11 months, I would say that Trump has a good chance to be a two term president.

Moreover, despite his shortcomings, I don’t see anyone in the running that I would prefer over him. Above all else, my world does not revolve around Washington DC and I don’t look to DC to keep me upright. I do look to DC to see what I can do myself to stay upright.

“Those who would give up essential Liberty, to purchase a little temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.”

        Ben Franklin

Or to purchase low unemployment and higher GDP. “Put it on the card, I won’t be here anyway.”

I agree with TL. The ends do not justify the means. I am extremely disappointed the Democrats couldn’t come up with a better candidate, because it means Trump has a very good chance of being re-elected. If he is, it will get worse, not better.

Without a serious recession between now and Nov. 2020 (not out of the question), this election could be more lopsided than NixonMcGovern or Reagan/Mondale.

          • It won’t be that lopsided. No way. But he may do better this time around depending on who his opponent is.
And TL, I give you credit for sticking to your “guns” (perhaps a poor choice of words in light of the Jersey City killings) when it comes to Trump. You take a fair share of abuse and still stick w the anti Trump position despite almost all on here getting on you for it. I can relate as I take a fair share of abuse, mostly from YOU 😉,
when it comes to my pension and bennies. I’d like to think that I persevere in thre face of ridicule while cashing those checks. Lol. (Just a joke of course….) if it was that bad…I’d go back to cursing at you. I’ve evolved.

    Tough Love:
Admiral James Stockdale was H. Ross Perot’s running mate. I remember watching that debate, when he said that he was “out of ammunition” when asked how he would have solved the health care crisis. He fought bravely in Vietnam, since he was an aviator, was shot down, and spent 7 years as a prisoner of war. It was too bad that such a brave person was humiliated on national television.
Perot never wanted to be president; he just wanted George H.W. Bush to lose, and got his wish. There seemed to be a deep hatred between them, although I knew neither one of them.
As the late Bob Grant has stated, we ended up with the “Great Stain Maker.”

  7. TL…..yes indeed, isn’t that what you live for these days to have one of the “panderers’ beat Trump or are you conflicted? Once one of your panderers gets elected, your pension rage will become but a pin prick on the massive tax increases that many will have inflicted upon them.

Yes, but 180 degees DIFERENT than the other rich older white guy (Trump).

          • Oh okay “he’s a different” kind of older white rich guy……got it.
As long as it fits your narrative and the candidate aligns with your views it’s okay to be white and rich. I personally don’t have any problem with someone being wealthy, white or otherwise if their money has been made the honest way.

Granted Trump is a character who is his own worst enemy but I do give credit that he took on the swamp the “establishment” and he is still fighting. He made a lot of rookie mistakes like bringing his kids into the white house and not getting rid of all the O left overs.

Not too many people could do that not even you with your big mouth. If it wasn’t for Trump getting elected, we the people would never have known about the dark side of what goes on in our government and how crazy and unstable most of them are in their lust for power. It is rigged against him. They just can’t believe that he won fair and square and H didn’t………he upset the apple cart it’s as simple as that.

But I am beginning to think that she prefers a reboot on our whole economic system and having us all be more equal. Bloomberg believes in a nanny state. With restrictions on soda and guns and cigarettes. I do kinda agree with him on those things. I support legalization of weed and sports gaming so it very odd of me to hold those views. He made nyc smoke free in bars during his term. Kudos there. I remember when young , a nite at the bar with your friends meant you smelt like Tobacco Road when you left. I don’t miss that part of it. Do we need to feed obese kids 64oz sodas?
I liked to drink occasionally. Doesn’t mean I want beer tj be sold by the gallon in my local liquor store 🤷‍♀️
The people elected him 3 times in liberal nyc. He started as GOP. He didn’t do a bad job there and when Diblaso got in there it all went downhill and they all protested and hated Mike by then. At least mike was law and order type guy.
