Multiemployer Pension Bailout Zooming Along

There was a Zoom call this Monday with former Congressman Pete King joining in “to congratulate all the retirees on this hard earned victory and thank them for their patience…..The Fund is currently in contact with the PBGC and other agencies to be prepared when the application process begins in mid July” as explained in this excerpt:

An outrageous $86 Billion ripoff of the Taxpayers …………. forced to pay for something that they had ZERO to do with. WHO among those Taxpayers who lost money in their own Private investments is being made whole? NONE !

Any rightful solution (if possible) should solely be the result of discussion, settlement, or court action between the Plan participants and the remaining participating employers.

And there was no lie being told like Christie did to get hard working cops to vote for him. (I didn’t either time, but lots did). You knew EXACTLY what you were getting with President Harr…..I mean President Biden. There was no trickery here. No smoke and mirrors. You voted for this.

        E,

NOBODY would have guessed that this over-the-top, cash-up-front, zero-controls, no-payback Bailout was in the cards.

Outrageous is woefully insufficient as to the level of Taxpayer abuse, I

It shows the lengths to which Elected Officials (“politicians”) will go to lock-up a large voting block.

If you cannot stop a threat with 10 rounds (+1 in the chamber) you should definitely not own a firearm.

I have only owned one firearm in my entire life, bought it back in 1985. It was a Steyr “GB” 9mm Parabellum (GB=Gas Break firing system), or the “Boat Anchor” as I would refer to it later on. It was huge. It ran me $600 in 1985. WHY did I buy the Boat Anchor you ask? One, and only ONE, reason, because it had the highest magazine capacity of ANY stock pistol in America; 18 in the clip + 1 in the chamber. I was not going down for lack of ammo or firepower. If I could not stop a threat with 19 rounds of 9mm fury, fired off in a maximum of 5 seconds- then I deserved to die. I could, and SHOULD, have bought the Beretta 92SB 9mm instead. Smaller, reliable, top rated 9mm at the time, 17 in the clip and 1 in the chamber. BUT I had to have that stupid one extra round … 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️

Handguns are very difficult to fire when you are nervous. I prefer a sawed off shotgun. They are not necessarily lethal in a small gage but sure will slow someone down and they make a heck of a noise. Whatever your taste.

      • Just came back from a day trip to PA and it’s a different world. Gun stores on 209 and signs for fireworks and Trump. My friend has an ATV track and a shooting range in his backyard and the neighbors don’t mind. Here, not sure, but you may need a permit for a doghouse.

I know, what the F was I thinking? The sad part is that I had no $$ back then, in college, dirt poor, eating ramen noodles in a cup 7 days a week, making my way through higher education. Why the F did I drop $600 on a firearm? Wish I could answer that question. Big Ego, with a HUGE dose of Stupidity, it’s my only defense. I bought it, shot 7 or 8 rounds through it, not even a full 18 round clip, cleaned it, packed it back up. Put it back in the manufacturing box it came in and never shot it again. It was brand new, not even broken in. I was gone for a week on some trip and my cousin spent 3 or 4 days at my house, and he was a drug addict, a meth user. He stole the Steyr 9mm. I of course reported it as stolen and collected the insurance payment for whatever I could, minus the deductible. A year or two later it turned up in a drug den at some gang-banger house in south central Los Angeles. The PoPo traced it back to me and asked if I wanted it back. I said FUCK NO, not my property, it now belongs to the insurance company; they paid out on it and have legal title to the gun. The fact is unless you conceal carry, you should only have a firearm for HOME safety, that is it. In all my life there has never been a SINGLE incident, not even ONE, where I needed a firearm at my pad. I don’t conceal carry, I don’t need a firearm. Now, would it have come in handy at Columbine HS, Sandy Hook or Luby’s Diner in Killeen Texas back in 1991? Absolutely. The PoPo and a few others conceal carry 24/7/365, lets pray that if one of those rare incidents does occur that someone near by will be armed. As for CCW, my position is MORE GUNS=LESS CRIME. I am all for it. Just not for me personally. It’s a personal choice.

Those on here awhile, have seen my position evolve on firearms over the last few years. I was never really a gun guy before really the Brown shooting in Ferguson. Then it picked up a little. Never was a guy that thought it could get this BAD!!!! I was wrong. Over the last year I have completely embraced that rights of people to carry firearms to protect themselves. I have seen defenseless people get assaulted. It has all happened before yes. But it seems that the consequences are nil and it is happening more frequently. Mass shooter incidents would really make me pause on guns. Never to ban, but I used to not really be opposed to gun laws etc. wasn’t a staunch 2A guy. But with all this defunding and coddling criminals etc. I truly think I am in NO position to say that if someone who is trained wants to carry a gun for self protection that they shouldn’t. 🤷‍♂️

Righttttt … 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️ … And yet as far off base as a country mile. WHO told you this LIE? Under our legal system, the criminal justice system, the standard for mental illness, one cannot understand or appreciate the consequences of their wrongful actions, has been established for centuries, not months, years or decades, BUT CENTURIES. The law, after hundreds of years, does/is not “changing”. Where do you come up with this shit? Every state in America, including New Jersey and CA, use the standard “M’Naghten Rule” in whole or part. VERY high bar to prove, and it is ON The defendant to prove to the jury.

So much violence. Part of the problem is that there is no where to put these violent mentally ill people. The jails are too full, psychiatric hospitals have closed, mayors too lenient on crime, courts backed up for years, police hands are tied……

E is correct, these violent offenders have nothing to lose, nothing at all.

Mental illness of this type is very difficult to treat, don’t know if jail would be better but something’s got to give

BTW…I love the NY Post, I think it’s more accurate and fact based than most of the MSM newspapers.

    It’s a pistol.

U.S. already has more incarcerations per capita than any other “civilized” country. (And most of those are in the Deep South, not New York or New Jersey.)

Most gun violence per capita —by state— is also Deep South. Sorry, New York, Chicago, you’re not number one.

Maybe we should be looking at this instead of pensions.
