NJ Property Taxes Rise 2.4%

Though NJ Spolight says they are up 1.8% from 2019 to 2020 but when combining spreadsheets from the state website the percentage increase comes to 2.4% (from $30,117,405,568 to $30,840,991,739) including 37 municipalities with increases of at least 5%:

It was a good move getting the damn cops OUT of the subway where they can’t harass illegal street vendors and take their stuff. Screw the NYPD. Racist force based on slave patrols….oh wait, how many now have been shoved on the tracks and /or slashed??? Oh well the real victim is the person who did the pushing. (Unless victim is black or brown of course then we sweep under rug)

Teachers still not going back into school? Give them a drop date of say next Tuesday. If not in class, then we lock you out….you can use sick days if u want until you have none left but you’re done here.
Screw them. After this summer with soooooo many of them saying get the cops out of the schools, supporting BLM and criticizing police unions they get NO sympathy from the boys and girls in blue. Or should I judge all teachers with a big brush because it takes a while to fire the teacher who was fucking their student? That happens as much as cops killing someone in a split second decision.

Holy crap, you have Antifa, BLM, several local govs and now the the teachers turning on you. Wow dude I don’t know what to tell you. Stand or run? I would stand but get my affairs in order. Anecdotally I recall a female Chicago PD lady stood and took a beating because she did not want to face the penalty of defending herself. Tough spot for sure.

    • The teachers Union as a collective is way more liberal than your average cop. Lol. I know a few conservative public school teachers. They u fortunately have to keep their mouth shut. But yea, there association as a whole lost lots of support from the PBA FOp etc as a result of their anti police stance over the summer. No cops feel any sympathy for their cause. Just get your asses back in the classroom and do your job. I couldn’t imagine being to tell my Chief I wasn’t going to handle a call due to safety reasons. Yea. Maybe if you give me a mulfunctioning gun or no vest etc. but….for real. You have 0% support on this issue except maybe from the hypochondriacs.

Another story I recall was from Broward County in Florida. A lady cop on night patrol spotted a dust up with teens in a parking lot. She walked in to break it up and got drop kicked in the the back. She got het stuff together and tailed them into an apartment, kicked the door in. Managed to trap two of them in a bathroom and wailed the snot out of them. Never called for backup or drew her weapon. She got a well deserved citation for bravery.

So does she get a pension? I would say yes. She knew her turf, a poor area with severely disadvantaged kids. She was trying to help under impossible conditions. Okay she lost her temper a bit but really she showed enormous restraint. Anyhow compared to someone moving paper to a filing cabinet for $300k a year. The latter deserve nothing.

  6. E, you forgot to say “Off topic”

    Off topic…

Does this have a familiar ring?

“The report concluded that that federal government might save money by adjusting compensation based on these findings. “Overall,” the report says, “the federal government would have reduced its spending on wages by 3% if it had decreased the pay of its less educated employees and increased the pay of its more educated employees to match the wages of their private sector counterparts.” *

    2) Federal civilian workers with no more than a high school education earned 34% more, on average, than similar workers in the private sector.

    3) However, federal workers with a professional degree or a doctorate earned 24% less, on average, than their private-sector counterparts.

    1) Federal civilian workers whose highest level of education was a bachelor’s degree earned 5% more, on average, in the federal government than in the private sector.

    https://hrdailyadvisor.blr.com/2017/05/09/public-vs-private-sector-compensation-gap-widens/

    So what?

So… “Biden seeks a $15 minimum wage for feds and contractors”

The whole point of contracting out these lower level jobs is that they can pay private workers less (much less) than similar government workers (even though administration and contractor profits may negate the savings.)

The Right Wing doesn’t know what the Left Wing is doing.

Also, 1, 2, and 3 are true in principle for all public workers, but the specific amounts vary depending on location and level of government, and change over time.

*You read this on Burypensions first.

Quoting …………. ““The report concluded that that federal government might save money by adjusting compensation based on these findings. “Overall,” the report says, “the federal government would have reduced its spending on wages by 3% if it had decreased the pay of its less educated employees and increased the pay of its more educated employees to match the wages of their private sector counterparts.” *”

Not sure it that’s what they meant, but that says “wages” (not Total Compensation”). If they indeed were only comparing “wages”, the comparison is meaningless, and I’m sure you agree (based on 100’s of your prior comments).
      ——————-

Similarly for your next 3 sentences where it says “earned” w/o specifying whether that means “wages” or “Total Compensation”.

    • According to Biggs, their numbers are all wrong, anyway. But yes, total compensation would be different. I was referring to the principle of taking from the poorest to give to the richest. Some people think that’s a good idea. Robin Hood in reverse.

According to Biggs, Federal compensation advantage is greater than state or local, and Federal unions are not even allowed to collectively bargain on wages or pensions.

      Damn unions.

  7. California tax revenue is soaring (but…)
    Calmatters, JULY 24, 2019

“California’s county tax assessors have just closed out their rolls of taxable property for the 2019-20 fiscal year, and once again they are sharply higher, led by soaring property values in the booming San Francisco Bay Area.
Overall, taxable property values are up by more than 6% to about $6.5 trillion, which will translate into about $75 billion in revenue. On average, property-tax revenue has increased by more than 7% a year since 1978, and overall revenue has expanded 15-fold since then.”

Even though existing assessed home values can’t increase by more than 2 percent a year, when a home is sold, assessed value can rise to the new appraised value.

    So what?

Public pensions get a mention in the story…

“So if California’s state and local governments are enjoying sharp increases in revenue, why is the political establishment complaining about an income/outgo squeeze that must be relieved by taxing even more?

The answer is found on the outgo side. Local governments and schools are seeing their pension costs skyrocket, thanks to some really bad pension-fund management over the last couple of decades…” *
Plus… (“… state officials are beset by demands from their political allies for higher spending on a wide variety of education and social welfare programs.”)

FWIW, note that Dan Walters did not say pensions were increasing, he blamed “…really bad pension-fund management…”

Pension reform. I’m all for it.

Oh please ……………….. “really bad pension-fund management ” ……. my ass.

The ROOT CAUSE of the problem is clearly traceable to GROSSLY EXCESSIVE pension (AND benefit) generosity.
