Laughmaker Christie

At the end of his Meet the Press interview this morning Chris Christie made a bold guarantee:

He might not have intended it but he already backed up that boast:

When asked about Bridgegate:

As if there can be nothing wrong with trading favors unless you are convicted of it in a court of law staffed by your appointees.

When asked about getting Democrats to go along with pension reform?

You lie to them. Let’s see how that works when you are not dealing with a compromised political hack looking out for his own personal constituencies and ambitions.
Defending a record, disastrous by every standard but your own:

For those still not laughed out here is the full Meet the Press bit:

MUCH more important for NJ’s future ….

PLEASE get NJ’s Democratic Legislature (BOUGHT with Public Sector Union Campaign contributions and election support) to see the error of their ways …… and support the NJ-Pension-Commission-recommended FREEZE of ALL of NJ’s State & Local DB pension Plans or, VERY material reductions in the FUTURE Service pension accrual rate (AND “Platinum+” healthcare) for all CURRENT workers.

    I wonder who BOUGHT this?

“- New Jersey has awarded about $5.5 billion in corporate tax breaks since Christie took office in 2010” May 27, 2015

“The broadest classification of political donors separates them into business, labor, or ideological interests. Whatever slice you look at, business interests dominate, with an overall advantage over organized labor of about 15-to-1.”
    Collusion? Cancer? Crony capitalism?

When it comes to paying off politicians, public unions are pikers.

Willie Horton is bush league compared to Chris Christie.

Certainly, a good many of those business that either (a) stayed in NJ, or (b) moved into NJ would not have in the absence of tax incentives. The NEED to grant such tax breaks (because of competition for other States) is very problematic, but there are few options, and a properly structured set of incentives costs far less to the State than the value of the potentially “lost” (or not “gained”) jobs and the revue that accompanies them.
