NJ Press on Bridgegate

Is the Bridgegate scandal really a shining moment for the New Jersey Press Corps as the Star-Ledger contends?

It is telling that Chris Christie avoided the Sunday talk shows, though he was certainly invited, preferring the coziness of his coterie of lapdogs.  Were it the New Jersey Press Corps grilling John Wilkes Booth the Lincoln assassination would still be one of the great unsolved mysteries.

How can you hold a 107 minute press conference and not have these questions even asked:

  1. Whose original idea was it to close those two Fort Lee lanes?
  2. What other reprisals were carried out against politicians who did not endorse you?
  3. What payback was provided to politicians who did endorse you?
  4. Assuming the answers to 2. and 3. are both ‘none’: Did you check with your staff?
  5. Will you cooperate with all investigations?
  6. Will your staff cooperate with all investigations?
  7. Assuming the answers to 5. and 6. are both ‘yes’: “Did you check with your staff?
  8. You say Bridget Kelly was fired for lying to you – what was that lie and if she had told you the truth would she still have her ratfucking* job?

Newspapers get legal ad money and reporters get public information jobs. The people who can give those to them are who they answer to.

Incidentally, Christie toadies are out there now repaying favors since they most certainly won’t be needed in 2016.

* With all the comparisons to Watergate out there this term has been conspicuous by its absence from the coverage.

I think he answered numbers 5, 6 and 7. It was hard to hear what the exact questions were, but he gave answers to that effect.

this is a story for shut-ins..like Incognito (the football guy) and Zimmerman..endless prattle on cable news esp CNN, MSNBC,…screens with 2 heads arguing about something..lots of Toyota ads. Less then meaningless and I am surprised how cable tv can suck people in.
