Union County Freeholders’ Most Boneheaded Move

For the record on June 9, 2011 it was resolved to pay Claremont Construction Group, Inc. $14,878,776 to build a clubhouse and learning center at the Galloping Hill Golf Course. On Thursday they upped that cost by $750,000. So far from the check registry:

When a government tries to ‘save’ taxpayers money

Oak Ridge golf course purportedly lost $450,000 in 2008* so in 2009 the county shut it down while upgrading the other two courses looking to save taxpayers money.

Last Thursday the golf people gave a presentation claiming that 2011 revenue from golf operations was projected to be $4.2 million.  However no mention was made of expenses for the year so I decided to total them up based on the county check registry through 12/1/11 and employee lists:
