In a purported climate of givebacks when it comes to public employees, Union County, New Jersey last week passed an ordinance that would give about 650 non-union employees lifetime health benefits.
Here is how they did it:
Notice that the freeholders:
- Included it within an ordinance raising golf fees by $2 so that nobody (outside of a Bruce Paterson) would likely notice
- Did not know how much it would cost (literally since the “costs associated with this are currently being evaluated” and the county is “in the process of receiving an actuarial study”)
- Did not seem to care
This ordinance is a primary reason why we here pay the highest property taxes in the nation and the manner in which the ordinance was passed is the primary reason why we will continue to do so.

you are going have to revolt and overthrow these criminals

“Revolt” is good if we can’t get I&R with a bank-like petition signature gathering system, for quick response.

Good questions John. It’s obvious they’re an analytical bunch. Noticed Sgt. Rock was on duty – guess they’re fearful some TP might lose it and they might need him to control the ‘perp’.
The inexorable laws of economics are gonna trump all these political ‘promises’ games in the years to come. Gonna be very messy though as the Wisconsin collective extortion flap is clearly showing.
